Unicorn Dream
Below is part of a series of kids room makeovers that Kids Haven has done in partnership with Groom my Room. It showcases kids taking charge of their own stories and their own rooms, within a budget and a timeline, with the help of a lively host, professionals, and their own family and friends. Magical creatures, glittery fairy dust, dreamy pastel colours… it is what most little girls’ want, and our Princess Luvell is no exception.
However, with a brother who shares her room from time to time, Luvell’s room starts to look more and more like a boy’s room, which scares Luvell. Therefore, she was hoping she could give her room a makeover with the help from the Groom my Room team and prove her brothers wrong about her ability to revamp her room. And so with the help of unicorn and a dose of girl power, she is ready to groom her room!
She is given a $1500 budget, 48 hours, a cool interior designer, 2 handy room groomers and 2 lifelines to help with the room’s transformation.
The challenge started with a session with the interior designer to discuss on the room design. Luvell wanted a girly room with unicorn, pink and purple.
After deciding on the design, Luvell headed for the first shopping trip which is to get a new bed from Kids Haven! With a wide variety of furniture, Luvell almost forgotten about the budget and wanted lots of stuffs! With the host, Charmian’s guidance, Luvell managed to pick the things needed and even gotten a good discount!
Luvell also get to purchase some decorative items for the room.
With the help of room groomers, they packed and cleared the room. After which they got help from the painters to paint her room with her favourite pink. Special arrangement had been made to have a wall muralist to help create the magical unicorn that Luvell loves too. Luvell also get to use her 2 lifelines to help create a shade for her room light and a glittery magic unicorn horn on the wall mural.
At the end of 48 tiring hours … the room is finally transformed!

From a messy boy looking room to a spacious sweet girly unicorn room! Luvell also shared that she has grown more confident through this journey. Well done Luvell! And you have proved your brothers wrong!
All in all, this is an amazing experience for Luvell, for not only she gets her room revamped, she herself transformed too. Even her mother also feedbacked that she is very proud of Luvell being able to accomplish this challenge, grown out of her shyness and voice out what she wants.
